German photographer Candida Höfer studied first film at the Duesseldorf Art Academy with Ole John and since 1976 photography with Bernd Becher. Together with Thomas Struth, Andreas Gursky and Thomas Ruff she was part of the extraordinary "Becher-class", which is internationally best known as the Duesseldorf Photo School.

As one of the first female artists, she became famous with her sensitive and silent photographs of museums, libraries and public interior spaces.

The filmmaker and curator Ralph Goertz was allowed to accompany her since 2003 during different shootings, while she is preparing her retrospective shows in Leverkusen and Düsseldorf, and at her studio in Cologne.
Over the years she did start talking on nearly every single series she made since 1968, when she studied with Arno Jansen in Cologne.

Die deutsche Fotografin Candida Höfer studierte zunächst Film an der Kunstakademie Düsseldorf bei Ole John und ab 1976 Fotografie bei Bernd Becher. Zusammen mit Thomas Struth, Andreas Gursky und Thomas Ruff gehörte sie zur außergewöhnlichen „Becher-Klasse“, die international vor allem als Düsseldorfer Fotoschule bekannt ist.
Als eine der ersten Künstlerinnen wurde sie durch ihre einfühlsamen und stillen Fotografien von Museen, Bibliotheken und öffentlichen Innenräumen berühmt.

Der Filmemacher und Kurator Ralph Goertz durfte sie seit 2003 bei verschiedenen Aufnahmen begleiten, während sie ihre Retrospektiven in Leverkusen und Düsseldorf vorbereitete, sowie in ihrem Atelier in Köln.

Im Laufe der Jahre begann sie, über fast jede einzelne Serie zu sprechen, die sie seit 1968, als sie bei Arno Jansen in Köln studierte, geschaffen hatte.
